So let me get this straight. Putin has by financially supporting, organizing, and using social media fake news blitzes has slowly been orchestrating the destruction of the Western World.
This is why, although he is not particularly homophobic, Putin has made laws in Russia discriminating against gays. Which in turn is winning the hearts of the rest of the world. Here in the United States at a meeting sponsored by Russia that brought far right social conservatives together one participant stated, ‘they wish they had a strong president who was willing to make the tough calls over social issues like Putin.’ As we know Putin supported the election of Donald Trump. We are learning daily more and more how this was done. Studies show Trump was elected by poorly educated rural, and white men and women who wanted to “take back their country” or “make America great again.” This is a group Putin has been promoting and cultivating in America for a while. He has learned that by supporting these groups he can tear at the fabric of Western civilization. “It’s asymmetrical warfare—this is KGB stuff—where you’re carefully funneling money into propaganda to nudge people,” said Charles Crawford, a former British diplomat who worked in Moscow before he was appointed British ambassador to Sarajevo, Belgrade, and then Warsaw. Russia has been giving cash and support to far right media outlets in Western Europe. Voice of Russia, a state radio station that was folded into Sputnik in 2014, gave $470,000 to a French web TV channel founded by a former Front National advisor. The state-owned outlet also partnered with the Italian Lombardy-Russia Cultural Association, which was founded by the far-right Lega Nord. Radical right-wingers campaigning for Britain to leave the EU were also invited to events hosted by Russia. Nick Griffin, the former leader of the racist British National Party, and Jim Dowson, the founder of Britain First—a far-right street party, attended a conference of neo-Nazis in Saint Petersburg last year. In France, The Front National received a $10 million loan from the Kremlin-linked First Czech Russian Bank in late 2014, and the party’s leader Marine Le Pen reportedly has made several trips to Moscow, meeting with Putin in secret. The reason the far right shows no concern that Trump praises Putin is that Putin has been silently working with and propagandizing these folks for quite a while through fake news blitzes, seminars, and money. Did you know that Putin was the figure behind the California exiting (Calexit) from the United States movement? Which brings us to we now know Putin had a hand in the Brexit movement in England [unclear]. He has a hand in the far right French candidate Marine Le Pen’s rise. She promotes France leaving the European Union. He is attacking the European Union, one of the strongest opponents of Russia through the use of their far right political groups. The idea that NATO is outdated, if one was to follow the trail, would probably have a Russian influence behind it. One of the reasons Crimea was so pro Putin was his recent conversion to far right social concerns. A similar thing is happening in Chechnya where his influence is behind the new concentration camps for gays. It is becoming more and more obvious that the former KGB master has learned to manipulate the uneducated and socially conservative groups to help them develop nationalistic policies which can only enhance Russia’s ability to maneuver politically and militarily throughout the world. Trump, Brexit, and maybe the election of Marine Le Pen in France are Putin’s successful war on the West. He is destroying the West by using their freedoms of the press, speech and rights to assemble against them. These freedoms are all closely monitored in Russia to the point they are not freedoms. I remember a time when the far right accused the left of being stooges for the Russian government; boy how the times have changed. The once patriotic far right have, knowingly or not, embraced Putin and the Russian Government. Of course their beliefs have always bordered on the fascist side. Most believe in a superior race (America was created by whites), superior sexual orientation (homosexuality is an abomination), superior religion (Islam is religion of violence), nostalgia for a lost homeland (Make America Great Again), and censorship of views they do not like (no funding for National Endowment for the Arts). I write all this to so that next time you face a flag-waving, conservative Christian, know they are all part of the Russian warfare on America. No matter how hard they try to convince you they love God and America more than anybody else, remember they are really part of the new Russian Scare.

Trump is using gunboat diplomacy. He says he has sent an armada heading towards North Korea. In truth they went the other direction for several days before they headed for North Korea. Of course Trump also needs to look up the definition of armada. He is trying to do his best impersonation of Teddy Roosevelt who really did parade and armada through the Caribbean Sea. But The Donald is no Teddy. For one thing Teddy who was imperialistic also was a Nobel Peace Prize winner for his art of the Deal brokering peace between Russia and Japan. Roosevelt said ‘speak softly but carry a big stick’. Tweeting Trump has never mastered the art of speaking softly. Roosevelt who glorified war spent, although limited, actual combat time in the Spanish American War. Trump dodged war. Trump has never held a governmental office while Roosevelt was governor of New York, Vice-President, Assistant Secretary to the Navy, and a New York Police Commissioner. Trump has said himself that he does not like to read. Roosevelt was an avid reader and prolific writer of history books. So when Trump attempts to carry a big stick he can only be perceived differently.
Regretfully, he could be seen as a dangerous man without a plan. He has no developed foreign policy but he is choosing to lead from the front. Trump wants to be viewed as a man of action just like Teddy. But Teddy acted from a knowledge and thought out policy base. Trump is using gun boat policy to provoke actions from our enemies while Roosevelt used policies to encourage our enemies to not act badly. His message was Europe stay away from Latin American countries. Roosevelt went seven years without war and brokered peace on several occasions. Trump is taking us to the edge of war and has shown no capacity to bring peace anywhere. Now Teddy was not without his bombast and his America first moments. He forcefully assisted in the Panama Canal land becoming under the control of America. But his America first often appeared to take a broader look at the world. He was an environmentalist and thought it good to preserve land Trump wants to open government land for private use. Teddy worked to bust monopolies while Trump’s policies work to bolster rich corporations. Teddy was charismatic but used his charm to bring America together. Trump’s charisma appears to only divide America. Teddy wanted healthcare for all. Trump wants to kill healthcare for many. These men were both charismatic and Republicans. They both believed in doing things their way. They both came from wealth. But Teddy lost in one day his wife and mother. An incident that caused him to retreat to the Badlands and nurture his soul. Trump has no similar experience. He is just a privileged kid who does not read, write, or has had an earth shattering life experience and he campaigned and governs from this point of view. God bless America because really Trump does not have the soul, mind and spirit to bless us. We want Trump to be presidential so bad. If he for one minute does not act incompetent we are so happy. And if he can look competent and show strength to bomb a country on a whim and not a policy we feel good. After all, all we white men want is to show the world we are not impotent. We are still masters of our homeland. So Syria, you are bombed with fifty odd tomahawk missiles. We showed you our power even if you were flying out of that airport that very same night. We are proud of a nuclear option (nuclear sounds so powerful) that shows those mamby-pamby liberals what we will do to have our own way.
We will increase our military budget, living up to President Eisenhower’s nightmare for America. A nightmare where the military industrial complex controls our economy. What was the final solution to ending the Great Depression? It was the military build-up to win World War II. The white man puffs his chest out and once again projects its masculinity to the world. We will have the greatest military in the world, but wait we already do have the greatest military. Oh well, we will be greater than our greatest. Where is this all leading? It is leading us to forget Russia. But his supporters say didn’t he challenge Russia by bombing Syria? Does that not prove he is not or never has been in collusion with Russia? A hard stare at Syria but no permanent damage does not disprove collusion. It proves the stakes are high and all the players know he needs to give a hard stare at Syria. So this is the art of the deal. Be utterly incompetent at legislation such as creating a new revised tax code, healthcare law, and Muslim ban but be very good at puffing your chest out. If we use a nuclear option that is okay because we are not about governing but about ending what little good government is left. If we bomb Syria that is okay because we are not for bringing Assad down but to act on impulses and not have in place policies for our government. The current government of Trump and the far right in the end are anarchists. They went from small government to wanting no government. They went from policy driven decisions to helter skelter bombing. While they may not be Emma Goldmans they are never the less anarchists of another stripe. And the walls came tumbling down and Putin smiles at his good investment. In olden times before we accepted the belief that businesses were efficient and good and government was inefficient and bad, people felt called to serve. This idea that business is such a superior way is of course a myth. A cursory look at bankruptcies, failed companies, the causes of the great recession, and the ravages of the pre-regulation industrial age would disprove the myth. But myths die hard. So business is the way to go. And with this myth comes the loss of service to the country or the greater good. You work for the government on your way to a plush private sector job. Working for the government is about gaining influence and power so you can make money. We scoff at people who would work as public servants as idealist who will one day have to grow up and face reality. After all money is what makes the world go round. Where once we proclaimed you cannot take it with you we now say greed is good. I know all of this sounds very 1980s.
But any student of history will tell you that history repeats itself. And the 80’s are back and are on human growth hormones. The current president has never had any motivation but how to make more money. So it should come as no surprise that he wants to deregulate and lower taxes so that the money makers and everyone else can grow their incomes. And he is doing this by any means necessary. The poor, the environment, the sick, arts, and humanities must stand down so that the money makers can enrich themselves. His budget increases the military spending because it protects our riches and the military industrial complex is one of the best ways to increase wealth. After all it was military expenditures that created a booming economy in World War II after the Great Depression. So public servants are a concept of the past. Ideology over people is the new mantra. The fact that people lose their healthcare is okay because the government can budget the money to more enriching schemes. Meals on Wheels they say accomplishes nothing but feeding. It is not creating wealth so it must go. Ensuring women have equal salaries is a hindrance to companies making more money. Now they use the insane argument that taking what little the poor have will in the end make them not poor. It is healthcare and full bellies that help them stay poor instead of these benefits make poverty bearable. Me, Myself, and I are so liberal as to say unless you have good health and food for energy you cannot possibly move out of poverty. But alas we have a dream come true the businessman of bankruptcies, inherited wealth, and non-payment to contractors who work for him has become president. Working for the government is to be used for growing your wealth and government programming is to grow your wealth. People be damned. In fact in the future we will replace people with robots so they are not such a drain on the government budget and company’s bottom line. But wait that is already happening. |
