Deserving Rich

They say only the deserving poor do we want to help. You know those poor who do not drink or use marijuana (even though marijuana is legal in many states). The deserving poor who are moral and have a very industrious streak in them. We have to cut funds on the cheats on welfare although these cheats are as hard to find as voter fraud. As my mother always said hurt the ninety-eight percent to get to the two percent of cheaters. My mother was a wise kind old soul. They say you will make people comfortable in their public housing and very limited income if you provide them with assistance. Although in my twenty plus years of working with the poor I found maybe one who was happy with their poverty ridden circumstances; any of the rest were clinically depressed. Most who were in government housing or shelters were always there for survival not comfort reasons.  The truth is there is no long term money going to anyone unless there are children involved. The truth is unemployment and Social Security are insurance you and your employer pay in case of hard times and old age. The truth is the poor are not less moral than the rich.
Which brings me to what I really think we should be talking about. The deserving rich. Do the rich get a pass? If you inherit your money and play at being rich do you really deserve to be rich? If you exhibit no real industriousness you do not deserve to be rich. If you “Paris Hilton” your way through life do you deserve to be rich? Doing nothing that contributes to better society should make you forfeit your fortune. You do not deserve to be rich. If you have no morals and have multiple affairs and wives, do not pay your contractors, run scam organizations to make money, constantly say bigoted thingsand are bigoted, You do not deserve to be rich. And if we are going to drug test the poor to receive assistance then we need to drug test the rich. If they fail they have to give some of their wealth away. Think how many of the rich will fail this test. This one policy could solve our nation’s wealth gap problem between the rich and poor. And while we are at it the rich should, like those homeless seeking shelter and food, be made to attend a religious service to maintain their wealth. Lord knows they need it. And since so many of society want to say we should not be helping the poor unless they spend their money wisely, should we not require the wealthy to make sure they do not spend their money on second and third homes, yachts, and so forth? Geez no one really needs that stuff, it is a total waste of money. Instead we should make the rich donate their disposal income back to some worthy cause.
To me once we get to talking about the deserving whoever we should look at both the rich and poor. A wise man once said, ‘Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?’, or ‘Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.’

Trump is an Act of Violence

The problem with America is we have dumbed ourselves down; we have left too many in dire straits for too long; that we have a populace that is not educated but in a lot of pain. The drudgery of poverty and the worry of how are we going to pay the bills has overwhelmed their synapses. So they settle for inane reality television, the Fox News of simple thinking, or talk radio of easy righteous indignation: let me know what is right and wrong we have no energy to deal with nuances.

The lack of good education means we have not been trained to make solid verbal arguments. So we give the simple thinking of Fox News with a combination of easy righteous indignation and use it as evidence of brainpower. If this does not work we threaten to resort to force. Open carry laws, militias, masks, skinheads is all a threat of force. When you have not been trained to think through what are the problems you have and how to cure them you naturally result to violence.

Now violence is not only physical it is also political. Donald Trump is the violence of a poor and uneducated populace wanting to destroy everything because they are in pain and do not know how to get out of it. Now they do not necessarily know this about themselves. So instead they proclaim Hillary and other liberals are destroying America not me. I am a patriot. After all I did not create the bad education choices and low paying or no jobs at all environment.

The Left offers Obamacare but it is half a solution therefore it must be more of the same.

Think who Trump is. Trump the violator does not, despite what he says, have a big vocabulary. He is only able to give out guttural utterances that are off the cuff. They may not make sense but at least it is spoken in the language they can understand and the emotions of “I do not give a damn,” they feel. He does not know how Washington works but he knows how to fend for himself. Too much debt? Declare bankruptcy. A project costs more than you expected? Do not pay the contractor and claim they did not do adequate work. If people verbally attack, you strike forty times as hard back. Never apologize because the bottom line is that the world is dealing you a bad hand and ultimately the world here is in the wrong.

They have plenty of room to rationalize boorish and bigoted behavior. They did not create the divide between the rich and poor, the healthcare problem, terrorists or what other issues they may have. This unjust divide between the rich and poor allows them space for whatever faux pas they make along the way. After all the divide doesn’t even measure up to how they know the world is treating them. So grace is given to the Violator because he is striking out and that is what they feel.

So what if he makes threats he may or may not be able to or intend to carry out. So what if he sounds bigoted when dealing with the terrorist threats as long as he does something. So what if he pals around with the swamp creatures he denounced as long as he gets things done. So what if he is too friendly with Russia as long as he makes the world less threatening. So what if he is making money off his position as long as the economy is good. So what if he uses sexist and vulgar language as long as he appoints a Supreme Court justice against abortion. So what if he ruffles a few European feathers as long as he brings more money home. As long as he makes these things better, they will be there at his side. Of course if the economy stops growing and the divide between rich and poor increases, healthcare worsens, more soldiers are killed over seas and no end to the war on terror is within sight and so forth they will silently drift away from him. So in a year’s time Trump will be left all alone and we will be left to build back what he has managed to destroy. The Left needs to be sure they are pursuing policies that change the character of the life of our people or the Bride of Trump will soon be seen at your nearest multi-plex Capitol and White House.

We are the Old Brits

We have developed the same thinking and way of being the British had during the prelude of the Revolutionary War. We view the world as our playground. The British believed the colonies were there to serve and enhance their wealth. Trump wants to break trade agreements and do deals to make us wealthier. The British thought the Americans were freeloading off of them and they can no longer invest in their military to protect America from attacks of the Indians, Spanish, or French unless they pick up some of the military. Likewise, we fuss at NATO for not doing their fair share and suggest we can no longer be expected to protect them from the Russians.  Sure the British had the greatest military of its day as we do, but we both resented having to act as the enforcer of peace because it cost some of our wealth.
The British refused to let the colony have voices in the decisions that shaped us. Taxation without representation the colonies yelled. We refused to join in the climate control accords with the rest of the world. We will dictate how we do these things which effect the whole world. Again we feel our wealth threatened. We are suddenly trying to claim exceptionalism without offering exceptional behavior. We act within the world as the British did to the colonies. You need us and we do not need you. We arrogantly think they are not quite the great nation we are.
The end result for the British was the loss of prestige in the world and a colony. We seem to be on a similar path. We are losing prestige in the world. The French are now aligning with the Chinese in climate change actions. New alliances are being made without us. Now some may think this a good idea. But Russia is poised to enter the military void and China is poised to enter the economic void. Neither of these countries are known for their human rights. What this will mean to the world as they develop into powers that influence the thinking of nations cannot be good. Our loss of prestige and influence, ironically enough, will also in the end hurt us economically. Corporations are global and will follow the money. If we are local and do not have as big a role in the world we will see less of these global corporations.
If we want our way and we want to be thought of as an exceptional people then we will have to do the exceptional things. China has been invested heavily in Africa to gain their allegiance, even though they currently may not show a return on their money. If or when Africa develops economically the Chinese will be poised to have sway; we will not. They are doing the exceptional thing now and will reap the benefits later.
Eventually, the American colony went to war with the British. The world is slowly rebelling against the United States and its leadership; what this will portend for our nation is yet to be seen.

An Angry Time

6/3/2017

There is a general dissatisfaction of some in our country. Their financial futures do not look good. Their religious beliefs are being held by fewer and fewer people. The status of the majority is fading as minorities increase in their prominence. Thus they are an unhappy people. For many of these people Donald Trump has become their hero. But as we all know from experience unhappy people often become angry people. An angry people are no longer a silent people and because they are loud they appear as a majority as all attention is directed to them. And because they are loud they can find each other in a crowd and this convinces them they are in the majority. And if we do not confront their anger they can and do become the majority.
The problem of angry people is they always tell you ‘I am not angry’. It is your problem. You cannot handle someone expressing themselves. Angry people are usually not good listeners, therefore it is hard to express your point of view because they want you to be silent and listen to them by God. Angry people can only consume things that agree with them. Anything else merely annoys and makes them angrier. They work and talk in extremes only. They do not know what a measured response is.
The focus of angry is on themselves because anger comes from pain or fright. They are concerned to relieve themselves of this pain and this state of fear. They live in a constant fight or flight mode. That is why they flip the channel when they hear opposing viewpoints. They will either say they cannot talk about it or go on an unrehearsed and sometimes an unthought out diatribe. They rush out of the room when confronted. They insist on shouting over you. They ambush you with their factoids from out of the blue so that they have the upper hand. As you stand there trying to figure out how that applies to the conversation you thought you were having.
Anger contorts and even changes the color of our faces. We become less beautiful. That is why some have developed a charming little boy or girl persona to go with their hulk personas. After the hulk persona has made its appearance they try to soften it with a coquettish twirl of the hair or off the charts smile.
We are in the age of Trump. He brings the anger of himself and his followers to the American political scene. He also brings the anger out of his opponents. We live in an angry time. But anger can only take you so far before it becomes destructive to you and the world about you. So what to do?
Counteract anger with perseverance. Anger is an emotion that cannot be held for long periods of time. Therefore if you continue doing what you are doing the angry will pass away and the steadfast will endure. Keep pushing your agenda with a strong steady hand that refuses to be misunderstood or ignored. Yes the angry will cause damage before their storm dissipates. But if you keep your peace they will not distract you from your goals or make you use your energy for good up in replying with anger.
Remember anger passes and good works and love endure.
