They say only the deserving poor do we want to help. You know those poor who do not drink or use marijuana (even though marijuana is legal in many states). The deserving poor who are moral and have a very industrious streak in them. We have to cut funds on the cheats on welfare although these cheats are as hard to find as voter fraud. As my mother always said hurt the ninety-eight percent to get to the two percent of cheaters. My mother was a wise kind old soul. They say you will make people comfortable in their public housing and very limited income if you provide them with assistance. Although in my twenty plus years of working with the poor I found maybe one who was happy with their poverty ridden circumstances; any of the rest were clinically depressed. Most who were in government housing or shelters were always there for survival not comfort reasons. The truth is there is no long term money going to anyone unless there are children involved. The truth is unemployment and Social Security are insurance you and your employer pay in case of hard times and old age. The truth is the poor are not less moral than the rich.
Which brings me to what I really think we should be talking about. The deserving rich. Do the rich get a pass? If you inherit your money and play at being rich do you really deserve to be rich? If you exhibit no real industriousness you do not deserve to be rich. If you “Paris Hilton” your way through life do you deserve to be rich? Doing nothing that contributes to better society should make you forfeit your fortune. You do not deserve to be rich. If you have no morals and have multiple affairs and wives, do not pay your contractors, run scam organizations to make money, constantly say bigoted thingsand are bigoted, You do not deserve to be rich. And if we are going to drug test the poor to receive assistance then we need to drug test the rich. If they fail they have to give some of their wealth away. Think how many of the rich will fail this test. This one policy could solve our nation’s wealth gap problem between the rich and poor. And while we are at it the rich should, like those homeless seeking shelter and food, be made to attend a religious service to maintain their wealth. Lord knows they need it. And since so many of society want to say we should not be helping the poor unless they spend their money wisely, should we not require the wealthy to make sure they do not spend their money on second and third homes, yachts, and so forth? Geez no one really needs that stuff, it is a total waste of money. Instead we should make the rich donate their disposal income back to some worthy cause. To me once we get to talking about the deserving whoever we should look at both the rich and poor. A wise man once said, ‘Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?’, or ‘Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.’
